S.J.Res. 26 · International Affairs
A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of the proposed foreign military sale to Israel of certain defense articles and services.
Introduced Feb 25, 2025 · Motion to discharge Senate Committee on Foreign Relations rejected by Yea-Nay Vote. 15 - 83. Record Vote Number: 166. (consideration: CR S2152-2158)
What does this mean?

Normally, when the U.S. government approves selling weapons or military equipment to another country, Congress has a chance to step in and block that sale if enough members object. This resolution is Congress using that power: it would stop a specific planned sale of weapons and military equipment to Israel from going through. If passed, the U.S. company or government agency involved would not be allowed to complete that particular arms deal, though it doesn't affect other, separate military support or sales to Israel outside of what's specifically listed in this resolution.
