If you buy a low-coverage "bronze" or "catastrophic" health plan through the ACA marketplace (the government website where people without job-based insurance shop for coverage) and make up to 700% of the poverty line, the government would deposit $1,000-$1,500 a year into your health savings account (a tax-advantaged account you use to pay medical bills) starting in 2026. Starting in 2027, people with mid-level "silver" plans and lower incomes would get help with out-of-pocket costs, and anyone—not just people under 30—could choose a bare-bones catastrophic plan. Separately, states that use their own money to give health coverage to immigrants without legal status would get less federal funding for their Medicaid expansion population (the low-income adults states cover beyond Medicaid's traditional rules), and states would no longer be required to keep covering people through Medicaid or CHIP (health coverage for low-income children) while their immigration status is still being checked. Finally, marketplace plans, Medicaid, and CHIP would be barred from covering gender-transition medical procedures using federal funds.
