Lulu’s Law
Introduced Mar 12, 2025 · Became law
What does this mean?

Lulu's Law tells the Federal Communications Commission — the government agency that regulates phone and communication systems — to formally allow local authorities to send shark attack warnings through the same emergency alert system that already blasts your phone with severe weather warnings or Amber Alerts for missing children. Right now that system covers things like storms and abductions, but shark attacks aren't clearly listed as a covered emergency, so this bill makes clear that beachgoers and coastal residents can get an automatic phone alert if a shark attack happens nearby.
