H.R. 832 · Commerce
Small Business Advocacy Improvements Act of 2025
Introduced Jan 31, 2025 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
What does this mean?

The Small Business Administration has an internal watchdog-type office called the Office of Advocacy, whose job is to push back on regulations and speak up for small businesses' interests within the federal government. This bill expands that office's job to also look at how small businesses fit into international trade and the global economy, and lets it represent small business interests directly to foreign governments and international organizations. In practice, that means small business owners could have someone officially speaking on their behalf when trade rules or international regulations are being worked out, rather than only having a voice in domestic U.S. policy debates.
