H.R. 7757 · Commerce
KIDS Act
Introduced Mar 3, 2026 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
What does this mean?

If you're a parent, this would require social media apps, online video games, and AI chatbots to add tools letting you control what your kid can do on them — like limiting who can message your child, restricting in-game purchases, and turning off features designed to keep kids scrolling endlessly. Websites where more than a third of the content is sexual material harmful to minors would have to use technology to detect underage users and block their access. AI chatbots would have to tell kids they're talking to a computer, not a person, and share suicide/crisis hotline information. The Federal Trade Commission (the government agency that polices unfair business practices and consumer protection) and state attorneys general (each state's top law enforcement lawyer) would be responsible for making sure companies actually follow these rules.
