H.R. 4541 · Health
To reauthorize the Young Women’s Breast Health Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young Act of 2009.
Introduced Jul 17, 2025 · Read twice and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
What does this mean?

Congress is renewing two federal efforts through 2030-2031: one gives states money to provide free or low-cost breast and cervical cancer screenings, follow-up tests, and treatment to people who are uninsured or have low incomes, and this bill gives states more freedom in how they spend that money. The other effort focuses specifically on younger women, funding public education campaigns about breast cancer risk, training for doctors, research into preventing the disease in younger patients, and support services for young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer or precancerous conditions. A government watchdog agency will also be required to report back to Congress on how many people the screening program is actually reaching and what's stopping others from getting screened.
