H.R. 2966 · Commerce
American Entrepreneurs First Act of 2025
Introduced Apr 17, 2025 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
What does this mean?

The Small Business Administration offers 7(a) and 504 loans, which are government-backed loans that help small business owners get financing from banks more easily. This bill would require anyone applying for these loans to state their date of birth and certify that they (or everyone with an ownership stake in the business) are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or lawful permanent residents (green card holders). It would also make certain people ineligible for these loans, including asylum seekers, refugees, people on temporary visas, DACA recipients (people brought to the U.S. as children without legal status who currently have protection from deportation), and anyone living in the country without legal immigration status.
