H.R. 2721 · Armed Forces and National Security
Honoring Our Heroes Act of 2025
Introduced Apr 8, 2025 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
What does this mean?

This bill sets up a two-year test program letting families of veterans who died on or before November 1, 1990 request a free government-provided headstone or grave marker — something currently only offered for veterans who died after that date. To qualify, the veteran must have left military service under conditions that weren't dishonorable. The agency that runs veterans' cemeteries and benefits, the VA, would also have to update its website to clearly explain who can get one of these markers.
