H.R. 2550 · Labor and Employment
Protect America's Workforce Act
Introduced Apr 1, 2025 · Received in the Senate.
What does this mean?

In March 2025, an executive order removed certain federal agencies and their employees from the law that lets government workers unionize and bargain collectively with their employer over pay, benefits, and working conditions. This bill would cancel that executive order, restoring those federal employees' ability to be part of a union and negotiate through collective bargaining. It also makes clear that any union contracts that were already in place as of March 26, 2025 stay valid and enforceable for as long as they were originally set to last.
