Companies that want to build or upgrade things like cell towers, internet antennas, or other communications equipment on federal land (national forests, land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, etc.) currently need government approval, which can take a long time. This bill creates a task force made up of officials from the federal agencies that oversee that land, plus telecommunications officials, whose job is to push those agencies to review and decide on such requests faster, by setting deadlines and checking whether agencies are meeting them. It doesn't change the rules companies must follow to get approved—it just aims to speed up how quickly the government responds, and requires this task force to report back to Congress on whether it's actually working.
