H.R. 1526 · Law
NORRA of 2025
Introduced Feb 24, 2025 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
What does this mean?

When a federal district court judge rules that a law or government action is illegal, that judge currently has the power to block it not just for the people who sued, but for everyone in the country — this is often called a "nationwide injunction." This bill would stop that: judges could only block the law or action for the specific people or groups who actually brought the lawsuit, not for the general public. In practice, this means a policy could stay in effect for most Americans even after a court finds it illegal, unless those other people file their own separate lawsuits.
