H.R. 1286 · Armed Forces and National Security
Simplifying Forms for Veterans Claims Act
Introduced Feb 13, 2025 · Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
What does this mean?

Veterans who file paperwork for benefits like disability payments or healthcare often have to fill out confusing government forms. This law would have the Department of Veterans Affairs, the federal agency that handles those benefits, hire an outside research group to review its forms and suggest ways to make them clearer and easier to understand. The VA would then be required to actually put some of those suggested changes into practice within two years.
