H.J.Res. 60 · Public Lands and Natural Resources
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the National Park Service relating to "Glen Canyon National Recreation Area: Motor Vehicles".
Introduced Feb 21, 2025 · Became law
What does this mean?

Congress is voting on whether to cancel a National Park Service rule that had restricted off-road vehicles (like ATVs and off-highway vehicles) in parts of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a federally managed stretch of land and lake in Arizona and Utah that includes Lake Powell. That rule, issued in January 2025, had closed an 8-mile stretch of the Poison Spring Loop to off-road vehicles, blocked off-road access to part of the Flint Trail, and limited how close off-road vehicles could drive to the lake's shoreline. If this resolution passes, those restrictions go away, meaning off-road vehicle users would regain access to those areas that the rule had closed off.
