H.Con.Res. 75 · International Affairs
Directing the President, pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution, to remove the United States Armed Forces from hostilities against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Introduced Mar 4, 2026 · Motion to reconsider laid on the table Agreed to without objection.
What does this mean?

Congress would formally tell the President to pull U.S. military forces out of any combat involvement with Iran by March 30, 2026, unless Congress separately votes to declare war or specifically authorize such military action. This uses a legal process called the War Powers Resolution, which lets Congress force a withdrawal from conflicts it hasn't formally approved. The measure still allows U.S. forces to defend themselves, American diplomats, or allied countries if they face an imminent attack, so it wouldn't stop troops from responding to a direct threat.
